9:45pm Carrie’s first labor was quite quick. This time around was a bit slower (although still not a “slow labor” by any means) and she had time to hang out and enjoy the labor process. Carrie surrounded herself with her husband, daughter, mother, mother-in-law, friends, doula, and midwife. At one point, we even had a sister-in-law on Skype! Carrie’s house was a regular party – a Birthing Party! early labor

It was late, but Carrie’s 2 year old was still up. She was such a ham for all of us, so happy to have her grandmas there and so happy for her brother to come soon.

10:35pm Carrie’s doula/student midwife Danielle was just fantastic. I know Carrie raved about her afterwards.

10:53pm Carrie’s water broke and labor was moving right along, so everyone prepared for delivery.

anticipating birth
A few times during labor, Carrie started crying. Amidst her sobs, she would say “I’m just so happy!!” She was so happy her son was on his way to join their family. It was really touching to see Carrie and Ed show their love for their children in such a way as the tears of joy.

Danielle truly pampered Carrie. I love it!!

11:21pm Edward the Fifth is born! In water and into his daddy’s arms. I’m so impressed by the five generations sharing the same name and I hope you are too. I’ve known a Third and maybe a Fourth, but a Fifth is just so impressive.
