Whew. MommyCon was a whirlwind of a month ago, but I want to do a re-cap for anyone who missed out! Here is me and my table.  How nice that my slideshow happened to stop on a placenta pic, eh?  Lol!

Not only did I meet the girls who are the driving force behind MommyCon, the writers of The Mommy Dialogues, who are super nice and friendly by the way, I also met a slew of other interesting mommy-friendly people!

Jessica, writer of The Leaky Boob blog, spoke about breastfeeding and actually had an incident where she was breastfeeding her baby at a cafe inside the Flamingo where MommyCon was being held and another customer complained to managment about her.  Wow, did they mess with the wrong girl!  You can read the story here. (Warning: her blog post includes nude images a la Vegas style)  All turned out well in the end, and the Flamingo hotel set things right.
Jamie Grayson, the BabyGuyNYC, realized he got “verified” on Twitter when he was sitting five feet away from me.  His excitement was uncontainable.

Menina Fortunato, an incredibly talented dancer-extraordinaire, taught a prenatal dance class.  Check out Prenatal Dance with Menina for lots of stretching, yoga, hip movement, and smooth dance routines to help you stay fit throughout your pregnancy!

Petite Peanut Boutique was a fellow vendor.  Joy had a darling display.  Everything she does is darling.  I even got to meet her sweet son Clayton, who passed away a few short weeks after MommyCon.  Order a super hero tie in his honor!

ErgoBaby was also a fellow vendor.  Christine was so knowledgeable and helpful with finding mama’s the right carrier, even if it wasn’t her own company’s!  There were so many different carriers and wraps at MommyCon, I was just amazed at the variety. ErgoBaby asked me to do a shoot for them.  Many thanks to my cute models, the weather for being perfect, and Bootleg Canyon for not being busy that day.  Also, check out this extensive baby carrier guide by the Babble Out.  It includes rules for safe baby-wearing, benefits of baby-wearing, an overview of different types of carriers, and of course their top picks for best carrier.  Any carrier that makes it to the top of that kind of list is going to be a great carrier, but check out #2 😉

PinkPeas was also attending MommyCon and was very instrumental in making it all happen. Midwife Corrine Flatt spoke, as did Amie Norris on baby-wearing, and the PinkPeas girls were all-around helpful with manning the front desk, ushering, directing people traffic, answering questions, you name it.

I also sat next to the drummer from Hole for most of the day. Yep. True story.

And of course the attendees!!! Because what is a convention without attendees? It was so interesting and fun to talk to all the mamas, some of whom were local and some who came from as far away as Canada! Some who came with their sisters or friends, and some who came by themselves who were so grateful to be able to socialize with other like-minded mommas. It was a great day and a great opportunity to come together and learn and share. MommyCon is headed to Chicago in March, Phoenix in April and Austin in May, and have plans for Philadelphia and Portland. Hopefully, they will head back here to Vegas too!
